Highly grained exotic headstock veneer w/Tom Mortenson trademark. Huge diecast initial tuners. Stock Fender design bridge.Pick-up has actually been changed w/humbuckerd double J pick-up. Chrome dome knarled V&T knobs. Here is an interest. Tom Mortenson is a little handmade shop company from NY. His thing is he utilizes unique "distressed"woods that Martin & Gibson would decline. Its all very well done w/decent hardware. No 2 Tom Mortenson basses are alike. This is the Nessie model, his most popular. Note the back electronic devices plate is carved walnut in a huge variation of the Loch Ness monster & the top horn also does a "Nessie"imitation. This is a low-cost handmade American bass. Very gorgeous flawed woods & hand craftsmanship. Completely functional truss rod has odd design near base of headstock. Maple fretboard is complete 1/4" thick. Walnut stained neck is most likely maple. Has low playable action at a hair over 1/8" @ 12th fret bottom E. Its a V style radius & a fantastic feel. The "humbucker" double Jazz pick-up is effective w/cracking slap readily available & plenty of bottom end. All in all, it has a vintage "Music Man Stingray"ambiance. The solid maple leading w/whiteneck & humbucker gives it some amazing high end tones that jump off the thick fretboard. Its a huge bass at 46" top to bottom & has good balance to use & just 7-8 lbs. It puts on an amusing hat on top of its non-symmetrical stunning headstock.
